Righteous kid secures funds for a VW because assholes can’t drive on the Sea to Sky Highway without incident
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
A 10-year-old from West Vancouver raised over $20,000 to buy a car for a family injured in a violent crash on the Sea-to-Sky Highway last month.
Jonathan Yeung spent several hours over the past month calling friends, relatives and local businesses asking for money for the family, who were all injured when !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on the highway up to Whistler on Sept. 5.
Everyone involved in the crash, including two children, were taken to hospital. The drivers of the Lamborghini, as well as a Range Rover that was part of the rally, are under investigation and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
***Editors Note: Added for Clarification***
The car will be helpful to the recipient family.
They said in their statement that because they did not have optional car insurance they were unable to expense a rental car while the police hold their vehicle for the crash investigation, a process that could take months.
A bad day :(

A nice thought, but shouldn’t insurance and/or the rich dickheads be covering this?

That’s awesome.
I hope that somehow, that kid gets an awesome deal on a car from that dealership when he’s old enough to drive. That’d be icing on an already great cake.

They should be getting some money for sure. I’m not sure how this will end up working out with the ICBC payout to the family.
It’s nice to see some money raised for a family regardless if they keep the car or not.
*Edit, Reason:
They said in their statement that because they did not have optional car insurance they were unable to expense a rental car while the police hold their vehicle for the crash investigation, a process that could take months.

It’s tough because I really like seeing the expensive stuff out and about, but for the love the almighty please just cruise if you haven’t done HPDE and have no track time.
Even being able to accomplish this takes a real tool because the police
know the date of these rallies
and
infested this route
with cruisers and traps
. Even on a normal summer weekend it’s easily
the most policed road in BC.

I was going home from work one time and one of those douche super car rallies was going through SF. What a bunch of fucking assholes. One guy was burning out over and over while he held a go pro in his left hand out the window, pointing at himself.

I propose the Sea-to-Sky highway law. If you recklessly destroy your supercar on a public highway, you must remit an amount of money equal to the current market value of your vehicle to each affected victim. In addition, your license is suspended for 1 year. A second incident will result in permanent revocation of your driving license. A third incident will result in your vehicles being collected and destroyed.

I think so?
I’m going to do a quick update to the post. It’s because they don’t have optional insurance for a car
rental and the police have their car for investigation,
so the
ICBC pay
out is stalled
.

It’s not the supercars’ fault that they’re often driven by narcissists with no driving skills

Revision 1a.
In the case that it would be a crying shame to destroy said vehicles they will be forfeited to the West Vancouver Police Department and made into visible super pursuit vehicles .

Another reason why rich narcissists with no driving skill should wreck them on the track and fund said tracks for the rest of us.

I’m sure they’re trying to determine the exact speed of the collision to likely gather the evidence to appropriately press charges. Article mentions it could take a few months
unfortunately.

Okay, this is beginning to make more sense. They can’t seek retribution until the reckless driving is proven and in the meantime they are full out of pocket for a rental because of their insurance.

Seeing that the lower mainland is one of the more prolific dirty money hiding spots on the planet, I’d like to see an audit of the people involved in the crash. Residency-purchasing CCP members or simple trust funders, or both?

I personally can’t comment on the participants because I stay far away from anything of this nature. It could swing any which way based on my limited ventures to cars and coffee.
I took a little deeper look and it’s charity rally of all things too. Website s tates to obey speed limits . So a nice slow clap for plowing into a family during a charity event and some kind random kid ends up raising money to help them.
I feel like we’re in peak bizarro

Better to at least have mandatory driving school (which BC doesn't).

I don’t think any province does. In Ontario, taking driver’s ed let you get your next level of license faster, but that’s it.

Through some local FB car groups, I’ve heard the guy in the RR was allegedly to blame (but that he wasn’t part of the rally).
Definitely wouldn’t surprise me - hothead in a RR tries to spar on the road with a Lambo, Lambo loses control/crashes , and RR runs away...

Nor me.
I have a
personal thing against specifically
drivers of white late model R

overs. More often than no
t I find
they drive without an ounce of common sense or courtesy. I could see a RR driver
cutting off or doing some bonehead
move alongside
if that’s the case.

In my experience, it is often arrogant overmonied young shitbirds who’ve grown up with unbelievable entitlement via their dbag parents, and expect it for the rest of their lives. Sadly, they often get it. Notice the charity isn’t helping the person harmed. Possibly a “charity” like the Trump Foundation.
If there’s any good case for progressive penalties, it is for this demographic.
